As Gandalf said to the Hobbits at their parting;"not all tears are an evil". This piece never fails to get to me, and bring tears of JOY to my eyes.. especially the end. To call it triumphant would be an understatement. GLORIOUS!💀

I watched this movie last night! Miss Grayson is spectacular with a truly stunning voice. Today’s music is so garish and loud with ridiculous, childish lyrics often with filth in them! Long gone are the days of beautiful music like we have experienced here. Shame.

So many of the comments say Custer stopped Stuart at the Gettysburg East Cavalry Field (Hanover). Wrong! Major General David Gregg commanded the Union cavalry at the Gettysburg East Cavalry Field. Breveted Brigadier General George Custer commanded only one brigade. Major General Gregg, not breveted Brigadier General Custer, stopped Stuart on July 3, 1863.

Why do you think every major pianist and singer in the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s loved “guesting” with the Pops??? It was because they knew Arthur Fiedler was a FIRST RATE conductor and brilliant musician. Don’t let the Boston POPS title mislead you. He could conduct the CLASSICS as well as Ormandy, Munch, Szell, Reiner and all the rest. Here is the proof. Also, he nailed Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker excerpts. Every dance is spot on-Trepak sparkles, Arab is sensual beyond words, and the grand pas deux is positively titanic. Remember it was among Tchaikovsky’s last, greatest, and most refined works.

This scene is so delicate. While George Sand was compenetrated on her writing, suddenly the beautiful Nocturne penetrated her ears and soul, and she caught herself touched by the immortal melody. Sublime…
